CERTIFICATE III IN HOSPITALITY

Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision, using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multi skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food, and beverage and gaming.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible to enrol, learner must:

  • be working in a role within the hospitality industry and environment
  • have completed a minimum of Year 10 or equivalent
  • undertake an online LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the program

INDUSTRY PLACEMENT

Work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of this course.

You will be required to show that you can provide quality hospitality service to customers for a minimum of 36 complete service periods (shifts). A job that has involved the application of skills to work in organisations such as hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops.

UNIT OF COMPETENCY

To gain a full qualification in, a total of 12 units must be completed comprising six core and six elective units.

COMPLETION / CERTIFICATION

Students that successfully complete all 15 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality.

Students who successfully complete some units of competency will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited unit(s) in which they have been deemed competent.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
