Delivery Mode & Course Duration:  This course is delivered through a blended approach, combining online, self-paced learning with face-to-face practical assessments Students will only need to attend in-person sessions for the assessment of practical skills. Most of the theoretical learning is completed online, providing students with flexibility to work through the material at their own pace and in a way that aligns with their individual learner needs. Learners are provided with up to two weeks to complete the online material. Once completed, they can schedule the practical session to finalise the course.  

Unit of Competency & Expiry / Refresher Training:  Upon successful completion of all learning and assessment, learners will be issued a Statement of Attainment of ‘HTLAID012 – Provide first aid in an education and care setting’. This unit includes equivalent competencies in ‘HLTAID011 Provide First Aid” (First Aid) and ‘HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation” (CPR)  

The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills (HLTAID010, HLTAID011 and HLTAID012) are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months. Please also refer to specific industry standards and guidelines.  

There are no entry requirements for the qualification, however, you must have: 

• • USI (Unique Student Identifier) number 
  • A valid and current email address
  • Completed a LLN assessment (Language, Literacy & Numeracy test) 
  • Have access to a reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and word processing software such as Microsoft Office suite. 

The ACECQA National Regulations outline the requirements for family day care educators and education assistants to hold first aid qualifications, anaphylaxis management training and emergency asthma management training. On successful completion of this unit, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SoA) in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid nad HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting. The units of competency within this skill set are recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
