in Leadership and Management

Course overview

This short course has been designed specifically to meet the needs of young people, and especially school leavers, who may be responsible for leading a team or work area. It applies to individuals who are required to identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources and who deal with unpredictable problems as part of their job role.

Eligibility criteria

People undertaking training must meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria and fit into the categories below:

  • 2021 school leavers, 16 years and over or

  • Other young people, aged 16-24, who are not in school

Eligible participants will also need to be:

  • living in NSW or working in NSW

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder.

Mode of delivery

This skill set is designed to be delivered either Online or Face-to-Face.

Students will be provided access to a Learning Management System (LMS) where all interactive learning and assessments are located.

Training Schedule

  • 20 hours per week of self-paced study and assessments

  • Three weeks / 60 hours in total

Course fee

This training is subsidised by the New South Wales Government.

Course structure

There is 1 unit of competency to complete.


Students who successfully complete all units of competency within this program will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

The units of competence within this skill set are recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
