What is the Summer Skills?

Summer Skills is part of the Skilling for Recovery initiative, which is a fee-free short course program to support skill development over the summer months for school leavers aged between 16 – 24 years. This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

The NSW Government is offering a wide range of fee-free short course for young people wanting to learn new skills. Kickstart your career with short summer skills courses that you can learn online or near you.

Summer Skills Eligibility Criteria

People undertaking training must meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria and fit into the categories below:

  • 2021 school leavers, 16 years and over or

  • Other young people, aged 16-24, who are not in school

Eligible participants will also need to be:

  • living in NSW or working in NSW

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder.
