HEALTH & COMMUNITY SKILLS GROUP

Course Overview

The following units of competency are obtained from the Health and Community course. Health and Community Training prepares learners for the role of workers in community or residential settings in providing “person-centred” support to people who may require further assistance due to ageing, disability and/or other similar reasons.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to enrol, learner must:

  • be 18 years old or older

  • obtain a police check

  • have an ability to complete work placement

  • undertake an online LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the program

  • have access to the reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer with camera access for Zoom (or other video call technology) interaction

  • have access to the reliable internet connection

  • have access to the word processing software such as Microsoft Office suite

Assessment Methods

Summative assessments may include written/oral questions, practical/observational assessments, and project works with discussion

Additional Requirements - Work Placement

To achieve the statement of attainment of 3 units of competency, the candidate must have completed at least 28 hours (1 week) of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Unit of Competency / Study Duration

A total of 4 units must be completed.

Study duration varies as each unit involves work placement to complete in the assessment requirements.

      • Suggested 1 – 2 weeks to complete

  • CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues

      • Suggested 1 – 2 weeks to complete

Completion / Certification

Learners who successfully completed all units of competency and 28 hours (1 week) work placements with documentary evidence from the residential care centres approved by Brighten Institute Australia will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
