ENTRY INTO CARE ROLES SKILL SET

Skill Set Outline

This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support for basic client care for a range of roles and purposes required within the aged care and disability support sectors. The support provided in client care will be predominantly non-direct, with some basic direct client care, to maintain the safety of both the learner and client in care.

MODES OF DELIVERY

This course may be offered in a variety of formats:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Are you:

  • 15 years or older, and
  • no longer at school, and
  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or, New Zealand citizen, and
  • living or working in NSW, or
  • an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student who does not live or work in NSW but lives in specific defined interstate NSW border areas.

Career Opportunities

Candidates who complete this skill set can undertake job tasks to support fully qualified carers, and provide assistance to maintain a clean environment and communicate with clients and carers as part of the support service

Industry Placement

Individuals will gain basic client care skills for a range of roles and purposes required within the aged care and disability support sectors.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

COMPLETION / CERTIFICATION

A Statement of Attainment will be awarded for all units of competency upon course completion. Awarded units may be eligible for credit transfer for further study for Aged Care, Home and Community, Disability, or, Health Service Assistant qualifications such as Certificate III in Individual Support
