Course Duration:  This course can be completed within 2-3 days. The duration of this blended course will vary based on the learner's individual pace in completing the online components and the delivery modes chosen for each course.  

Mode of Delivery:

White Card  

• • Real-time connected delivery (virtual classroom) 
    Learners attend an online class run on a videoconferencing platform (Microsoft Teams). All coursework, activities and assessments are completed during the class time. 
  • Classes run from 8:30am to 4:30pm, including pre-class administration time and breaks.

Provide First Aid (Includes CPR) 

• • Blended: Self-paced online + attend a 3-hour face-to-face assessment session. Learners must complete online coursework prior to attending a 3hr assessment-only session at one of our training venues. Learners have a maximum of 2 weeks to complete the online content and are ineligible to attend an assessment session until they have completed all modules. 
  • Classroom: Attend 1 day of face-to-face training and assessment (3 hours of training, 3 hours of assessments, total of 6-hour class). All work done in class, no online modules. 

Units of Competency: To successfully accomplish this program, students must complete:  

• • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in construction industry  

• • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (valid for 12 months) 

• • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support aid (valid for 3 years) 

• • HLTAID011 Provide first aid (valid for 3 years) 

To be eligible to enrol, learner must: 

• • be a minimum of 14 years of age at commencement of training 

• • undertake an online LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the program 

• • have access to reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer 

• • Bring original ID documents that meet requirements of SafeWork NSW (details below) 

• • Have PPE items according to the requirements of SafeWork NSW (details below) 

Course Requirements (White Card) 
SafeWork NSW prohibits RTOs from allowing learners who do not meet these requirements into a class. Learners must be sure they have all correct documents and items of PPE prior to attending the course. On the morning of the class all learners must produce their documents and PPE for verification before they will be allowed to join the classroom. 

SafeWork NSW ID Requirements  

• • Provide 100 points of ID as evidence of identify. If you do not bring the required valid identification on the day, you will not be able to commence training, and no refund will be issued. 
  • All ID must be original: certified copies are not acceptable. 
  • Proof of identity – 100-point check 

    
    Exceptions:

    • Overseas visitors arrived less than 6 weeks in Australia can use the following combination of documents as proof of ID:
      • Passport AND licence from country of nationality OR
      • Passport AND Bank Card (overseas or Australian) AND
      • Proof of your arrival date.
    • Australian high school students under 18 can use either one of the following documents as proof of ID:
    • Valid Australian passport, or
    • Australian birth certificate, or
    • School ID card (must have photo)

    SafeWork NSW PPE Requirements

    • • Access to the following items of PPE, which must meet Australian Standards indicated for each 
    • • • Eye protection - AS1337.1 Personal eye protection Eye and face protectors for occupational applications 
    • • • Hearing protection - AS/NZS 1270 Acoustics - Hearing protectors 
    • • • Head protection (hard hat) - AS/NZS 1801 Occupational protective helmets 
    • • • High visibility top- AS/NZS 4602.1 High visibility safety garments class day/night 
    • • Learners who cannot produce all items of PPE as above will not be allowed into the class.
      • No refunds will be granted for learners who fail to bring the required items of PPE and / or original identification as detailed above. 

    Other requirements:

    • • All learners must undertake an online LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the program 
    • • All learners must be at least 14 years of age (upon commencement of training)

On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SoA) via email in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation 
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support 
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid 

The units of competency within this skill set are recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework. 

SoT and White Card  

On the day you successfully complete the course, you will be issued with your White Card number via email. The White Card number is acceptable proof of having completed White Card training for employment purposes. 

Your hardcopy SafeWork NSW Statement of Training (SOT) certificate will be sent via post. The certificate is valid for 90 days, and it will permit you to work on a construction site; the SOT is intended for use as a stand-in for the actual White Card until it arrives in the mail. 

Safe Work NSW will post your White Card to you; it generally arrives within two weeks of course completion. 

Renewal (First Aid and CPR) 

The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months. Please also refer to specific industry standards and guidelines.
